OVERVIEW
Forum is a true Hong Kong culinary legend. Founded over 40 years ago, this Cantonese restaurant in Causeway Bay is synonymous with one dish: Ah Yat braised abalone . Named after its creator and Forum’s owner, Chef Yeung Koon Yat (known as “Ah Yat”), this iconic dish has made Forum a destination for abalone connoisseurs from around the world. The restaurant holds multiple Michelin stars and is consistently ranked among Asia’s finest Cantonese establishments .
The interior is classic Chinese banquet-hall style — gold accents, red upholstery, round tables with lazy Susans, and private rooms for VIPs. The atmosphere is bustling and celebratory, with families and business groups enjoying multi-course feasts. Despite its high prices and prestigious reputation, Forum remains unpretentious at heart — the focus is always on the food.
THE LUNCH DEAL
Forum’s lunch service offers a more accessible way to experience their legendary cuisine. While the famous braised abalone (slow-cooked for days in a rich broth) remains a premium item, the lunch menu features an excellent selection of dim sum , including classics like steamed barbecued pork buns (char siu bao) and signatures like the deep-fried taro dumpling with foie gras . A la carte options are also available, along with set banquet menus for groups.
The lunch deal is not a fixed-price set menu but rather the opportunity to sample Forum’s acclaimed dishes at lower price points than dinner. Dim sum is freshly made to order, and the quality is exceptional across the board.

You won’t get the full abalone experience, but you will taste the same culinary excellence in a more relaxed setting. For first-time visitors, lunch is the perfect introduction.
