OVERVIEW
Zhejiang Heen is a MICHELIN-starred Shanghainese and Huaiyang restaurant located in Wan Chai (on Lockhart Road), just a short taxi ride from Central . The restaurant has held its MICHELIN star for multiple consecutive years and is widely regarded as one of Hong Kong’s most authentic representations of Jiang-Zhe cuisine.
The restaurant occupies three floors of an office building, with private dining rooms available for a VIP experience . The decor is tasteful and refined, with dark wood furnishings and an atmosphere that feels fancy but not try-hard. Service is efficient, attentive, and not at all pushy .
The cuisine focuses on the delicate, well-balanced flavours of the Zhejiang and Jiangnan regions. Signature dishes include the braised duck stuffed with eight treasures (must pre-order), crispy eel in ginger BBQ sauce, drunken pigeon, freshwater shrimp, smoked eggs, lion’s head meatballs, stinky tofu (steamed, not fried), and the eight-treasure duck .
THE LUNCH DEAL
Zhejiang Heen offers a 4-course set lunch menu that represents excellent value for a MICHELIN-starred “proper” restaurant where you can sit down, take your time, and not worry about being rushed out . The set lunch is available on weekdays.
The a la carte lunch menu is also popular for groups. Standout dishes reported by diners include:
-
Crispy eel — crunchy but not hard, with a sweet and sour taste
-
Drunken pigeon — tender and flavourful
-
Smoked eggs — artfully poached with semi-solid yolks
-
Fried rice cakes with edamame in dark sauce (niangao)
-
Salted pork and steamed cabbage — with prosciutto-like salted pork
-
Crispy rice hand rolls filled with chicken — original and tasty
-
Xiao long bao — great consistency with a thin, chewy skin and plenty of juice

WHY IT’S A GREAT DEAL
At approximately HK$350–500 per person for a 4-course set lunch, Zhejiang Heen offers exceptional value for a MICHELIN-starred Shanghainese restaurant. The quality of the cooking — particularly the labour-intensive dishes like eight-treasure duck and the delicate freshwater shrimp — would cost significantly more elsewhere. For diners seeking authentic Jiang-Zhe cuisine without the flashy interiors, Zhejiang Heen is a trusted classic.
